I was lucky enough to find The Marquee. An 1840's Coaching Inn; which had been closed for 2 years.

I negotiated the new lease and then project managed the re opening of this lovely old pub / music venue.

The master landlord was quite an old gentleman and had been involved in a nasty car accident, i helped him secure a bridging loan to fix up some serious structural issues with the building  and agreed to get the place back up and commercially viable again.

I had to strip, plaster and paint every surface, our team put in a new bar, new toilets, and re-engineer the back music room, with all new soundproofing. We built a new stage, new sound booth, new lighting rig, new sound system.  The building was re wired for data and comms, and new electrical wiring was installed along with a new fire protection system.

I negotiated a new brewery deal to stay freehold whilst still getting a 5 figure deal each year to fund the cellar services and give us working capital for marketing and promotions.

The venue was up and running and back as Norwich's only dedicated city center alternative music venue within 3 months.

I ran the venue as the Owner / Landlord & DSP for the remainder of the lease, responsible for the day to day ordering, staff management, accounts, gig planning and management, security and customer liaison.

At the end of the lease I handed the venue over to the master landlord, so that he could continue to run this venue.

I have kept the event management side of the business going and am helping people find bands for their events.
